With the presentation situation, patients with symptoms are being encouraged to stay away from the surgery.
Use this opportunity to pro-actively keep your patients up to date with information about how Covid-19 affects them and the surgery.
Consider therefore shifting the focus at this time from call/recall to using PatientChase's search and communication functions.
Some examples of using PatientChase in relation to Coronavirus:
1) In an instant, create a search of your registered population and target all patients with Coronavirus advice – what measures they should be taking to stop the spread, how they should self-isolate if necessary and what help your practice can offer patients.
2) Easily filter patients by high co-morbidities/specific at risk conditions (e.g Asthma/COPD) and/or elderly patients. Automatically identify within those who are housebound, further at risk etc.
A sample Coronavirus template letter which you can use in PatientChase can be found here. This template is aimed at those who are at risk. Feel free to edit the template however you wish, for example wording it so it’s aimed at all patients. Then save the template in C>Program Data>PatientChaseweb. Export your PatientChase searches to this template.
3) Forewarn long term condition (LTC) patients their annual reviews may be delayed.
4) It’s also simple to produce co-morbidity month of birth searches to see how many are likely to be deferred e.g. April to June patients. This will help in future planning of clinic slots.
Should you wish to instantly export any of the PatientChase searches to Excel, just right click on the name of the search and click ‘Export Search to Excel’.
Consider telephone reviews where appropriate and remember PatientChase can easily code such reviews into patient records as having been conducted over the phone.
You can contact patients through PatientChase via letter, SMS or email.
